Our History
In 1974, God prompted a young Florida Bible College graduate to launch an evangelistic ministry that would provide Bible teaching and resources to communicate the gospel and Word of God in a correct and clear manner. From this simple beginning, Make It Clear Ministries was born.
Today, Dr. Stan and Carol Ponz serve as its founders and president, providing creative leadership during this time of rapid growth!
As the ministry grew, so did its commitment to:
- A complete love for Jesus Christ
- A compassionate love for others
- A correct handling of Scripture
- A clear presentation of the gospel and God’s Word;
- A combination of ministries that connect all people groups to Jesus Christ and His Word.
Began Tract Ministry
In 1974 what was know as Soul Winning Ministries, began a tract ministry in Hollywood, FL with, Why Didn’t Someone Tell Me? written by Stan Ponz and A Christmas to Remember written by Carol Ponz. Gene Ledbetter a night school student at Florida Bible College who worked for a national paper company had unused paper that was to be discarded. So instead of discarding the paper we decided to print tracts.
Move to San Antonio Texas
In 1980 Soul Winning Ministries moved to San Antonio, Texas and was renamed Make It Clear Ministries. The tract ministry was expanded to include radio broadcasts, seminars, speaking, and a counseling ministry.
Began Radio Broadcast of Make It Clear on KSLR
Began a 5-minute radio broadcast in the Rio Grande Valley and San Antonio on KSLR called, Make It Clear.
How Hard Do You Really Have to Work? tract introduced
Stan and Carol's son Joe, at the age of 10 wrote the tract How Hard Do You Really Have to Work?
Began Radio Broadcast of Make It Clear on KDRY
Began a radio broadcast of Make It Clear on KDRY. This has been our longest continuous broadcast station. You can still hear Make It Clear on KDRY today.
Began Christian Counseling Center of San Antonio
Began Texas Bible Institute
Make It Clear Ministries became a tax exempt 501c[3] not-for-profit corporation
Now That You Believe booklet was written for new believers
Aired a weekly 2-hour live call-in radio program called View Points for Better Living on KDRY
Expanded Make It Clear radio broadcast to 30 minutes daily in the Albany, NY area on WJIV and in Redlands, CA
Expanded the speaking and seminar ministry throughout the US
Expanded speaking and teaching in Singapore, Indonesia, Myanmar, Hong Kong, mainland China
Expanded Make It Clear radio broadcast to 30 minutes daily in Hawaii on KGU
Began Make It Clear Associates
Expanded teaching and speaking in Mongolia
Moved Make It Clear Ministries to Orlando, Florida
Moved Make It Clear Ministries to Orlando, Florida to begin an unofficial relationship to help with Florida Bible College’s new beginning in Orlando
Expanded Make It Clear radio broadcast in Orlando on WTLN (Salem Network)
Began Make It Clear Speakers
Began Make It Clear Studio
Appointed Doug Stroup as Senior Director of Make It Clear Studio which includes television, movie shorts, and feature films.
Started Make It Clear Media
Make It Clear Media added podcast and mobile apps to our radio programs
Make It Clear Studio Released it's First Short Film Series and Talk Show Series
Began Make It Clear Marketplace
The Make It Clear Marketplace provides resources for Christians
Hired Jon Sperling as Director of Ministry Development
Appointed Peggy Sperling as Director of Women’s Ministries
Hired John Boehm as Executive Vice President
After seven years of continued service in Make It Clear Ministries as Vice President, manager, and volunteer, Make It Clear hired John as Executive Vice President.
 
Began Make It Clear Special Ministries
- Clear Connections Womens Ministry
- Good News Made Clear an 8-session small group study series and seminar; and special evangelism training in pregnancy centers
Florida Bible College Board of Trustees voted to give the college to Make It Clear Ministries
Renamed Florida Bible College - Clarity Christian College
Started Law Enforcement Minstry
The Law Enforcement Minstry is headed by Dr. Tim Rupp who was a career police officer before being called into fulltime vocational ministry.
A New Home in San Antonio Texas
All of us at Make It Clear Ministries are grateful to the Lord for how and where He is growing Make It Clear Ministries and Clarity Christian College.
After much prayer, speaking with trusted godly advisors, and open discussion with the Board of Make It Clear Ministries, the Lord has opened the door for MICM to relocate its headquarters from Orlando, FL, to San Antonio, TX. Dr. Stan and Carol Ponz will relocate to serve with the ministry and live in San Antonio.
